All The Deleted Scenes Marvel Will Include On The Avengers: Infinity War Blu-ray

At an impressive two hours and 40 minutes, Joe and Anthony Russo's Avengers: Infinity War is easily the longest movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe... but even the longest films have scenes and moments deleted due to structure, timing, and pacing. The 19th MCU blockbuster is no exception, and while we'll probably never see all of the material cut out, we now know about the material that will be resurrected for the upcoming home video release.

Walt Disney Studios has officially announced the details for the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War digital and Blu-ray/DVD releases -- dated for July 31st and August 14th, respectively -- and part of that information includes descriptions of the deleted and extended scenes. There are four in total, and we've highlighted them all below:

Happy Knows BestOfficial Description: Tony and Pepper spar over the details of their upcoming wedding---until a hassled Happy Hogan pulls up with an urgent request.This deleted scene is surely from the very beginning of Avengers: Infinity War -- and we know that basically because it is the only sequence that features Gwyneth Paltrow's Pepper Potts. In the movie, her post-jogging conversation with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is concluded with the arrival of Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), but it seems that an extended cut would have included a special appearance by Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau).

Hunt for the Mind StoneOfficial Description: On a darkened street, Wanda Maximoff and the wounded Vision attempt to hide from Thanos' brutal allies.This deleted scene essentially suggests that the sequence in Edenborough, Scotland where Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) battle the Black Order was originally going to be a bit longer. The Blu-ray material won't add a great deal to what's featured in the theatrical cut, clocking in at less than a minute and a half, but it will be nice to get to see more of the bond between the two Avengers.

The Guardians Get Their Groove BackOfficial Description: As Peter Quill and Drax quarrel over their failed mission to Knowhere, Mantis interrupts with news.It's difficult to precisely gauge what's going to be depicted in this Avengers: Infinity War deleted scene, but it clearly will take place very shortly after Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) is unable to save Gamora (Zoe Saldana) from being kidnapped by Thanos (Josh Brolin). Evidently it will create a bit of tension among the Guardians of the Galaxy... but more importantly, what exactly is the news Mantis delivers? Presumably it will be something about the ship containing Doctor Strange, Iron Man, and Spider-Man (Tom Holland) that is flying toward Titan, but we won't know until the last day of this month.

A Father's ChoiceOfficial Description: Thanos confronts Gamora with a vision from her past---and with lying to him about the Soul Stone.Finally we have what is the longest of the deleted scenes, with a running time of four minutes. Based on the description, it's hard to precisely say when or where this moment would take place, but clearly it's after Gamora's aforementioned kidnapping. This could be on Titan, before Gamora sees what he adoptive father has done to Nebula (Karen Gillan), but it might also be a longer moment on the planet Vormir before the movie's notably horrific sacrifice.

These all sound great, but it should also be noted that the deleted/extended scenes are far from the only special features audiences will get with the Avengers: Infinity War home video release. In addition to an audio commentary with directors Joe and Anthony Russo writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus, as well as a gag reel, the movie will feature numerous behind-the-scenes featurettes. The digital version will also have a fantastic exclusive called A Directors' Roundtable, which will be 32 minutes long and feature eight filmmakers and their experiences making movies with Marvel Studios.

A Movie Is Coming Together About The Me Too Movement And Harvey Weinstein Scandal

In recent months, Hollywood has been making headlines for what's been going on behind the scenes. Now, it appears that the story of Harvey Weinstein is going to move in front of the camera as well. Two production studios have partnered to acquire the rights to the story of the reporters who first broke the story of Harvey Weinstein, which led to a flood of women coming forward regarding other people in power, which became the Me Too and Time's Up movements.

Annapurna, who co-produced last year's Detroit and Phantom Thread, and Plan B, behind films like Moonlight and The Big Short, are partnering to put together a film about New York Times Reporters Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey, the pair who originally broke the story about the allegations of misconduct against Harvey Weinstein. The focus of the movie is being compared to Spotlight and All the President's Men, as the movie won't be about Weinstein specifically, but will instead focus on the reporters as they investigate the allegations and eventually publish the story while dealing with threats of litigation and intimidation.

Interesting, according to Deadline, the deal for the rights to the New York Times reporters' story has come after the paper made a deal with a production company Anonymous Content specifically to get the stories of its investigative reports turned into film and television projects. It seems that after seeing Steven Spielberg make The Post, about the Washington Post's involvement in the Pentagon Papers, when the New York Times was actually the paper to break the story, has caused The Times to make sure they don't get scooped like that again.

It's far from surprising to see Hollywood look to make a quick turn around on this story. It's still a major headline in the news right now. True stories do well attracting an audience, and the fresher the news the better. Considering how well movies like The Post and Spotlight have been received in recent years, making the focus of the film the reporters rather than the scandal itself also makes a lot of sense. It will give the story clear heroes to root for, rather than simply focusing on the potentially difficult terrain of the scandal. The two reporters shared a Pulitzer Prize for their report.

No time frame was announced on the potential project, even with the rights being secured now there will still need to be a script written before the movie can actually go into production. Still, one would expect this one will be put on the fast track in order to ensure it hits screens as soon as possible.

In October 2017, The New York Times and The New Yorker reported that dozens of women accused American film producer Harvey Weinstein, formerly of Miramax Films and The Weinstein Company (TWC), of rape, sexual assault and sexual abuse over a period of at least 30 years.


But as part of the #MeToo campaign, it has also come out that he has possibly not always acted appropriately with women. Hours after he released a statement condemning Harvey Weinstein's misconduct, he was accused of groping an actress and former TV host in early 2000.

This morning, just after midnight, the merger between 21st Century Fox and the Walt Disney Company became official. That meant that numerous franchises and characters have now joined the House of Mouse, and it looks like Deadpool could not be happier. Ryan Reynolds posted an image to his Twitter account commemorating the new era which shows Deadpool heading off to join his new bosses. Check it out.

The image shows Deadpool sitting in a classic yellow school bus, which happens to have the Disney name on it. The Merc with a Mouth is wearing the classic Mickey Mouse ears, which you figure have to be standard issue for all cast members of the Walt Disney Company. He looks like a little kid on the way to his first day of school, and for him I suppose it is. He needs to learn exactly what the plan is for him under this new corporate structure.

The film rights to the Deadpool character are officially in the hands of Marvel once again as the result of this merger. This creates an opportunity for Deadpool and his fellow mutants to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though it's unclear exactly how, or even if, such a thing would work.

Disney CEO Bob Iger had previously stated that he had no problem continuing to make Deadpool movies that continue to be mature titles. However, at this point the only project on the drawing board, an X-Force film that would include Deadpool as one member of a team, is maybe dead. Does this mean there's no place in the new Marvel for the old Deadpool after all?

It will probably be some time before we hear any major announcements regarding the future of Deadpool or any other of the major franchises that Disney just took over. There's a lot of work to be done and a lot of decisions to be made. Disney has to learn where the various in-development projects currently stand, decide which ones the studio wants to make a priority, which may not be identical to the way Fox felt, and which ones can sit on the back burner.

At the same time, it's also possible Disney already has a plan in place. The studio announced news Star Wars movies essentially concurrently with the announcement that it had purchased Lucasfilm. If Disney has decided it wants Deadpool to be an important part of the future, we could get a release date for X-Force or an official announcement that Deadpool 3 is coming literally any day.

If and when we do see Deadpool again, you can be pretty sure he'll be kicking down the fourth wall with numerous jokes about what it's like working for Disney now. The irony is just too much fun to ignore.

Balancing the R-rated version of Deadpool with the company whose name is synonymous with family friendly entertainment is clearly going to be a delicate matter. The character is incredibly popular and it seems unlikely Disney is going to want to say goodbye to the money that could be made. At the same time, don't expect to see Deadpool walking around Disneyland anytime soon.
